The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia has listed the signs by which it is possible to identify fraudsters posing as social workers. This was announced on February 16 in the press center of the department.

"Official social workers never require cash or transfers to personal cards to process payments," the Interior Ministry said in an interview with TASS.

The department explained that real employees are required to present an official ID during a visit, and the information indicated in it can be checked by calling the organization. The reason to be wary is haste, pressure, and intimidation by suspending payments, as well as requests to provide bank card details, SMS codes, or passport information over the phone.

In addition, attackers often report the alleged "winning" of an unregistered subsidy or offer to "activate" a social card by pressing keys on the phone. The Interior Ministry stressed that in such situations one should not act under pressure. It is recommended that you call the institution back yourself using an official number from trusted sources and do not share confidential information with outsiders.
