Four earthquakes of magnitude up to 6.4 occurred near the Kuril Islands
Four tremors ranging in magnitude from 4.2 to 6.4 occurred off the coast of the Kuril Islands. This was announced on February 15 on the website of the Kamchatka branch of the Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences (CF FIC YGS RAS).
According to the service, the tremors were located 112-329 km from the city of Severo-Kurilsk. The foci were located at a depth of about 30 km.
Information about possible damage or casualties has not been received at the moment.
On February 10, the CF FIC of the USGS RAS reported that an earthquake of magnitude 5.7 occurred in Kamchatka. According to the service, the epicenter of the tremors was located 188 km from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, and the source was at a depth of 42.8 km.
