In Western Ukraine, a 49-year-old deserter who stole a car from a training ground opened fire on law enforcement officials. This was reported on February 15 in the press service of the local police.
"The person involved voluntarily left the military unit, stole a car from the territory of the training ground and was hiding from the investigation," the agency said in a statement on the Facebook social network (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
It is emphasized that the man was mobilized into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) in January. The theft of the vehicle occurred on January 30, and on February 14, representatives of the investigative task force and the police came on the trail of the accused.
When the man saw the representatives of the structures at his house, he immediately started shooting at them. As a result of the incident, no one was injured. During the search, a pistol, a submachine gun, three air rifles, a knife, shell casings and a psychotropic substance were found in the detainee's possession.
On January 27, Oleg Gudyma, head of the main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine for the Cherkasy region, announced the death of four policemen at the hands of a 59-year-old ex-militant of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It was noted that the shooter was also able to identify law enforcement officers at his house, after which he armed himself and disappeared into the woods.
