Believers are not allowed to pray for material things, such as salary increases or promotions. This was announced on February 15 by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia during a sermon at the Cathedral of Christ the Savior on Candlemas.

"You don't have to pray for something that's just wrong to do: increase your salary, help you become a boss, help you buy a house, a car, go on vacation - it won't work, heaven doesn't respond to such requests," TASS quoted him as saying.
