The global automotive industry lost at least $65 billion in 2025 after abandoning plans to produce electric vehicles due to a change in the approach to climate policy in the United States under President Donald Trump. The Financial Times newspaper writes about this on February 15.

For example, the multinational car manufacturing corporation Stellantis NV had to spend $26 billion due to the decommissioning of some electric car models and the revival of production of the 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine in the United States. The article notes that the abolition of tax incentives for electric vehicles in the United States and Trump's desire to loosen regulations aimed at reducing emissions from vehicles have led to the fact that, according to analysts, in the coming years, electric vehicles will account for only 5% of the American market.
