- The NYT reported on the deportation of nine citizens from other countries by the United States to Cameroon.
The administration of the American leader Donald Trump, as part of a secret deportation agreement, sent nine people to Cameroon who are not natives of this state. This was reported on February 14 by The New York Times (NYT), citing government documents.
"None of them (the deportees. — Ed.) is not a citizen of Cameroon, and the United States has not concluded any public agreements with Cameroon on the reception of deportees from other countries," the publication says.
It clarifies that some of the deportees did not know that they would be sent to Cameroon until they were "handcuffed and chained on board the plane." According to the newspaper, people are being held in the Yaounde State Center.
The Reuters news agency reported on December 23 last year that the Trump administration has launched a nationwide campaign to revoke asylum applications for thousands of migrants whose cases are being tried in immigration courts. The lawyers asked the judges to make a decision on the deportation of immigrants from, for example, Guatemala, Honduras, Ecuador and Uganda.
