- The commander of a motorized rifle company spoke about the situation in the Russian-controlled Dimitrov
On February 14, Izvestia correspondent Dmitry Astrakhan showed the situation in Dimitrov, which was liberated by soldiers of the Center group of forces at the end of December.
"Until recently, the signs of active fighting were fragments and unexploded ordnance everywhere. And now the whole road is littered with drone batteries step by step. There are two destroyed Ukrainian pickups on one of the streets in Dimitrov. There are 120 mortar shells near both of them, which they transported. Here, our kamikazes on optical fiber destroyed at least the supply of a mortar position. And it is possible that the calculation is the same," Astrakhan said.
According to him, a large number of Arctic all-terrain vehicles were found among the destroyed equipment in the Dimitrov area. These vehicles were reportedly delivered to the country in 2023 instead of armored personnel carriers, even before the Ukrainian counteroffensive, and are now used in defensive battles. A significant part of these all-terrain vehicles remained in the vicinity and directly in Dimitrov.
It is specified that the city is completely controlled by Russian troops. All buildings and basements have been checked and cleaned, and local residents are assisting in the search for disguised agents.
The commander of the motorized rifle company of the 5th brigade of the 51st army of the Center group of forces with the call sign Gromozeka added that a significant number of Ukrainian militants, whom they call lost, were hiding in basements disguised as civilians. However, their attempts to escape were thwarted and they were detained. According to him, an average of two or three such people are found every day or every other day. These individuals refuse to participate in hostilities and, as a rule, immediately drop their weapons, surrendering.
Among the civilian population, there are those who stayed in Dimitrov because they were unable to leave. One of these people, a resident named Dmitry, spoke about the reasons why he stayed in the city.
"I didn't want to live in Ukraine. There is no life there, no prospects, no future. There is no future for the children, of whom I have two. They are in Russia with their wife now, I sent them there," he said, explaining that he could not leave the country because of his military age.
According to him, local residents tried in every way to avoid forced mobilization, men could not even go to work properly, so as not to fall into the hands of employees of the territorial recruitment center (TCC, as military enlistment offices are called in Ukraine).
Dmitry also noted that, despite the difficulties, he hopes to start life from scratch in the future.
Russian President Vladimir Putin, visiting one of the command posts of the united group of forces, on December 27 noted the bravery and bravery of the servicemen who liberated Dimitrov. He congratulated the Russian soldiers and officers who liberated Dimitrov on the completion of this operation.
On December 27, Putin was informed about the liberation of Gulyai-Pole in the Zaporizhia region and Dimitrov in the DPR. Then he stressed that the Russian army has good results in the special military operation zone.
