A girl died after falling ice from a roof in Nizhny Novgorod.

The girl died as a result of falling ice from the roof of a house in the center of Nizhny Novgorod. This was announced on February 14 by the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee (IC) of the Russian Federation for the Nizhny Novgorod region.

"The investigative authorities of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the Nizhny Novgorod region have opened a criminal case on the death of a 19-year-old girl as a result of falling ice on the grounds of a crime under paragraph "b" of Part 2 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Production, storage, transportation or sale of goods and products, performance of works or provision of services that do not meet safety requirements". — Ed.)," the message on the Telegram channel says.

According to investigators, ice fell on two girls from the roof of an apartment building on Varvarskaya Street. One of the girls died on the spot, and the other received minor injuries.

On February 12, the press service of the emergency rescue service of the Leningrad Region reported that in the Lahdenpokhsky district of the Republic of Karelia, a skier fell through the ice of Lake Ladoga.
