Figure skater Humennik will perform an exhibition number at the Olympics
Russian figure skater Pyotr Gumennik will perform an exhibition number at the Olympic Games in Milan.
The demonstration screenings will take place on Saturday, February 21, after all figure skating competitions are over.
Humennik performed a clean free skate at the Olympic Games in Italy on February 13 and scored 184.49 points. He performed at number 13. The athlete managed to perform flip, lutz, Rittberger and double Salchow — in a cascade with a triple toe loop and in combination with two double axels. According to the results of the competition, Humennik took the sixth place.
Earlier that day, Olympic speed skating champion, State Duma deputy Svetlana Zhurova noted that the jury had unfairly evaluated Humennik's performance. She stressed that similar situations had already happened to Russian athletes at previous Olympics, adding that figure skaters from Russia traditionally face stricter requirements.
Later, figure skating coach Alexei Mishin said that Humennik's performance at the Olympic Games was one of the best of his career. Mishin stressed that the importance of this hire goes beyond personal achievement — Humennik's vivid performance showed that Russian figure skating is "lively, strong and worthy."
