A just and sustainable peace in Ukraine can be achieved by two goals. This was announced on February 14 by Croatian Prime Minister Andrei Plenkovic.

"The first is security guarantees for Ukraine, and the second is to avoid, under any conditions, de jure concessions from foreign powers," he told Izvestia correspondent Semyon Boikov.

Plenkovich clarified that he was also ready to convey these thoughts to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.

The day before, Zelensky said that the US Congress needed to back up the agreement between Ukraine and Russia with security guarantees in the form of additional funds for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) or an agreement.

At the same time, the Politico newspaper noted that the United States had made it clear to the Ukrainian leadership that it would not provide any security guarantees until Kiev and Moscow reached a general agreement to end the conflict.

On February 11, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the Ukrainian side and its associates were discussing security guarantees without the participation of Moscow, whose interests they did not take into account. He clarified that such a position provides for "the automatic outbreak of war against the Russian Federation."

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
