American billionaires Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are promoting their space companies and competing with each other for the future exploration of the moon. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on February 14.

"The space race between American billionaires is heating up: Elon Musk's SpaceX company is planning to build a lunar base, and Jeff Bezos is advancing the ambitions of Blue Origin," the publication says.

The article notes that Musk's increasing desire to explore the Moon has shifted SpaceX's priorities from the mission to colonize Mars, which he has consistently promoted since the company was founded in 2002.

In addition, in recent weeks, Bezos' space company Blue Origin has also focused more on its own lunar program, redirecting resources to future lunar exploration, the agency added.

Musk announced on February 8 that he intends to build cities on the Moon and Mars. In his opinion, a flight to Mars can only be carried out at the moment when the planets line up, which happens every 26 months. At the same time, one can supposedly fly to the moon every 10 days.

Later, the billionaire noted that the city project on the Moon, which is under development and which SpaceX developers want to implement in the next 10 years, will function thanks to solar energy.
