On February 14, former Italian figure skater Carolina Kostner, the bronze medalist of the Olympic Games in Sochi, expressed surprise at the results of men's single skating at the 2026 Olympics.
Earlier that day, it became known that Mikhail Shaidorov from Kazakhstan became the winner of the men's free skate, Japanese Yuma Kagiyama took second place, Japanese Shun Sato took third place, and Russian figure skater Pyotr Gumennik took sixth place.
"Anything can happen at the Olympic Games, that's the essence of sports. Today it has become obvious. I'm very surprised," Kostner told TASS.
On February 13, at the Olympic Games in Italy, Humennik performed a clean free skate and scored 184.49 points. He performed at number 13. Humennik managed to perform flip, lutz, Rittberger and double Salchow — in a cascade with a triple toe loop and in combination with two double axels. In addition, the athlete was able to perform an axel in 3.5 turns.
