Trump called Orban a "friend and a winner" and promised him support in the elections.
US President Donald Trump on Friday, December 13, called Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban the winner and his friend, promising him support in the upcoming elections.
"Dear Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban is a truly strong and powerful leader with a proven history of achieving phenomenal results," he wrote on his page on the Truth Social network.
The American leader said that he "never regretted" that he supported his Hungarian counterpart in 2022, when he was re-elected for another term. Therefore, as the head of the White House emphasized, he will do the same this year.
Trump, describing Orban's activities, stressed that relations between the United States and Hungary had improved during its implementation.
The leader of the French right-wing Patriots party, Florian Philippot, on February 11, commenting on the plan of the European Union (EU) countries to accept Ukraine into the alliance in an accelerated format, said that Western figures were counting either on Orban's defeat in the upcoming parliamentary elections, or on "depriving Hungary of the right to vote" in this matter. Orban, speaking about the initiative of his colleagues in unification, said on the same day that European leaders want the Tisa party to come to power, and not the current Fidesz political union.
