- The Russian ambassador called Germany's calls to prepare for a conflict with Russia madness.
The German authorities are urging their citizens to prepare for a military clash with Russia, this is a crazy idea. This was announced on February 13 by Russian Ambassador to Germany Sergey Nechaev.
"Seeing that the Ukrainian wards are close to imminent defeat, [the German leadership] urges its citizens to prepare for war with Russia. It's a crazy idea, to which the Germans, in theory, should have a strong immunity based on bitter historical experience," he said in an interview with RIA Novosti.
In December last year, Alice Weidel, co-chair of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, said that German Chancellor Friedrich Merz resembles a politician who has lost his mind when he talks about possible military actions by the West against the Russian army on the potential demarcation line in Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in turn, noted that Merz's statements about the German army speak of a revival of militarism. The Russian Foreign Minister pointed out that Germany has set a goal to become the "first, main military force" in Europe again, whereas earlier Germany became the main military force in Europe under Nazi slogans and the intention to conquer other nations.
