The expert spoke about the shortage of personnel in tourism
The shortage of hundreds of thousands of specialists in the tourism industry annually "bites off" up to 20% of the potential budget income from the regions, Kirill Irtyuga, founder of Rosinvestotel, said in an interview with Izvestia.
The expert noted that the shortage of personnel forces local businesses to reduce services and close facilities, especially in small towns.
According to him, the shortage of chefs, guides and administrators leads to a 25-40% increase in salaries during high season, which makes the work unprofitable. The training of 6 thousand people under the national project covers only 2% of the needs, and the majority of graduates go to the federal networks of Moscow and Sochi, said a representative of the tourism industry.
"Currently, a staff shortage of 300,000 people is forcing businesses to close facilities or reduce services, especially in small towns. The regions are losing literally a fifth of the potential income from the potential of the tourist flow," Irtyuga stated.
The expert stressed that currently only 15-20% of trained specialists remain in the regions to work locally or in the industry itself. To solve the problem, he said, localized programs with guaranteed employment and scholarships for rural residents are needed.
