A gastroenterologist of the first category, nutritionist, and eating psychologist Nuria Dianova warned about the dangers of overeating pancakes on Shrovetide.

In an interview with Radio 1 on Friday, January 13, she noted that pancakes can be eaten at any time of the day — for breakfast, lunch or dinner. At the same time, she recommended that men limit themselves to three pieces, and women to two, choosing options with a healthy filling of fruit or protein.

According to her, if you eat only pancakes during the Oily week, this can lead to pancreatitis and pancreatic problems. The expert stressed that it is important to keep a variety in the diet: it is enough to eat pancakes once a day and change the protein filling. Excessive consumption, she warned, can cause disorders in the functioning of the gallbladder and other serious consequences.

Earlier, Antonina Starodubova, a nutritionist at the Moscow Department of Health, said that people with certain diseases, including gastrointestinal tract and liver, should limit the use of pancakes.
