Nabiullina was surprised by the EU's attempts to ban the digital ruble

The EU's plans to ban the digital ruble look amazing, no one is capable of introducing such a ban. This was announced on February 13 by the Chairman of the Bank of Russia, Elvira Nabiullina, at a press conference following a meeting of the board of directors of the regulator.

She noted that the digital ruble is the same form of national currency as the cash one.

"No one can ban the national currency of the state," the chairman of the Central Bank noted.

Nabiullina also noted that, despite everything, the dialogue on cross-border operations with friendly countries continues.

Earlier, Konstantin Kuchugurin, technical director of the financial marketplace "Compare", spoke about the key features of the digital ruble and its potential impact on the financial market. According to the expert, the digital ruble will not generate interest income, and such funds will be stored on a special platform under the control of the Bank of Russia.
