A criminal case was opened in Moscow on the fact of theft during the construction of a villa in Bali.

Moscow investigators have opened a criminal case into embezzlement during the construction of a villa on the island of Bali. This is evidenced by the case materials, which Izvestia reviewed on February 13.

According to the documents, in the summer of 2022, the victim signed an agreement with an Indonesian company — it was about building a villa, preparing its design and installing furniture. The cost of the house set was $198,000 (at that time it was almost 11.2 million rubles). The total amount of payments under the agreement, including other costs, amounted to 11.7 million rubles.

The company has not fulfilled its obligations, it follows from the criminal case. The victim suffered material damage on an especially large scale. The victims' lawyer, Alexander Zorin, confirmed to Izvestia that it was one of the villas advertised by blogger Alexander Domogatsky.

"The money was collected in Moscow, but the victims did not receive the promised pitchforks. We welcome this decision (the initiation of a criminal case. — Ed.) and we hope that all the perpetrators will be identified and brought to criminal responsibility," he said.

In early February, the Arbitration Court of the Moscow region introduced bankruptcy proceedings against Domogatsky, suspected of fraud with the sale of villas on the island of Bali. Before that, on January 24, it became known that the court had recovered 49 million rubles from the blogger in favor of the bankrupt company.

According to Izvestia, Domogatsky purchased real estate in South Africa for $2 million, the same amount he used to defraud clients in a scheme to sell real estate in Bali.

In November last year, Zorin reported that they were trying to declare the blogger bankrupt in the Arbitration Court of the Moscow region. At least 36 lawsuits have been filed against Domogatsky. At the same time, about 30 victims sought to bring the blogger to justice in Bali. Among them are not only citizens of Russia, but also of Ukraine, France, the USA, Belarus and the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
