The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC+) is inclined to increase oil production in April 2026 amid rising prices due to tensions between the United States and Iran. This was reported on February 13 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

It is noted that the increase in production will allow Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to regain their market share.

The eight OPEC+ member countries (Saudi Arabia, Russia, the United Arab Emirates, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Iraq, Algeria and Oman) will hold their next meeting on March 1, at which a final decision will be made on increasing oil production, the article says.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that in January 2026, the OPEC+ countries that are parties to the oil production reduction deal reduced fuel production by 265 thousand b/d and produced another 644 thousand b/d below the plan. Taking into account all voluntary restrictions and compensation schedules scheduled for January, the OPEC+ alliance was supposed to produce 37.829 million bpd.

In early January, Evgeny Smirnov, Doctor of Economics, Head of the Department of World Economy and International Economic Relations at the State University of Management, did not rule out that forecasts of oil supply on the world market for 2026 could be adjusted downward. The expert explained that the mechanism within OPEC+ allows you to adjust oil production, reducing it during periods of oversupply.
