In 2026, 46% of men notice a change in the cost of dating, but 40% of them are fundamentally not ready to lower the "quality bar" of meetings. By Valentine's Day, analysts at the Humopeu wallet and the Check Index analytical resource from the OVD Platform found out how often Russians go on dates and how much they spend on them. The results were reviewed by Izvestia on February 14.

According to the results of a survey involving 1.5 thousand Yumopeu users, 30% of men and 25% of women go on dates several times a month, 20% of men and 18% of women do it only on special occasions, and another 17% of respondents — every six months or less. At the same time, 25% of women and 29% of men do not date.

According to analysts at Humopeu, men feel financial pressure more acutely than women, but at the same time they are less likely to use tools to reduce it. The survey showed that 46% of men noticed an increase in the cost of organizing a decent date, but social attitudes remain at a strong level — 40% of the representatives of the sex are not ready to cut the budget and reduce the quality of dates.

For women, in turn, analysts have noticed a more flexible approach to personal finances. Thus, 38% of the respondents closely follow promotions and special offers, and 29% of Russians pay with cards with increased cashback. The figures for men in both categories correspond to 17%.

The most popular meeting places are cafes, bars and restaurants. They are chosen by 69% of men and 47% of women. 29% of women and 22% of men prefer home dates at home or with a partner at home. Walks in the park or museum have become less popular.: 4% among men and 12% among women.

The "payment etiquette" in Russia continues to be on the conservative side. According to the survey results, 71% of men want to completely close the restaurant account on their own. At the same time, only 4% of women are ready to split the check in half, and 35% believe that the financial side of the issue is a male prerogative.

However, with a limited budget, couples are willing to make different compromises. It is noted that 27% of men and 29% of women agree to change the location of a date or just take a walk in the park. At the same time, there is no unity in matters of movement: every fourth man is ready to come on a date by public transport, but only 15% of women are ready to give up taxis.

In addition to the cost of a date, Russians often spend money on preparing for a meeting. Although 52% of men clean themselves up on their own, 17% have become regular customers of professional craftsmen before important dates. Their expenses vary: 28% spend 1-3 thousand and are willing to spend the same amount from 3 thousand to 5 thousand rubles.

Women spend more time and resources on preparation. So, 76% do makeup, and 53% are spent on styling. Analysts have found that with a wider range of procedures, including manicures and pedicures, women's receipts turn out to be less than men's expenses — 26% of women spend up to 1 thousand rubles.

Gifts are also an important point. Of the total number of respondents, 58% of men give flowers to women on dates, and 18% come without a gift. 9% of male representatives bring jewelry to meetings or make a romantic surprise, and another 4% believe that it is necessary to give impressions instead of gifts. Among women, 41% give gifts only on holidays, 15% arrange romantic surprises, 12% carry a small present, and another 38% do not give anything on dates.

The data from the "Check Index" from January 1 to February 10 shows that purchases of soft toys decreased by 9%, valentines — by 14% and gift certificates — by 8%. Experts attribute this to a decrease in the sacredness of Valentine's Day and a shift towards rationalization. As for jewelry as gifts, the number of purchases decreased by 6%, but the average receipt increased by 10% and reached 10,406 rubles. The same situation is observed in the perfumery market: the average purchase amount increased by 5,646 rubles with a decrease in sales.

Instead, couples choose to experience together — the number of movie ticket purchases increased by 9% with an average check of 583 rubles. This is the only segment that has shown significant growth.

A survey of Tanuki Japanese home-cooked restaurants on February 12 showed that 47% of Russians will celebrate Valentine's Day at home. The results showed that February 14 is an important day for only 31% of Russians, while it was most popular with millennials (36%) and generation X (24%).
