Honored hockey coach Krikunov noted Filippov's kindness
Honored Hockey coach of Russia Vladimir Krikunov told Izvestia that he was well acquainted with Alexander Filippov, the world hockey champion in the USSR national team, who died on February 13 at the age of 76.
"He was always a very positive guy, always with a smile, always kind. He was a good player. <...> He worked with children," Krikunov commented.
The sports mentor noted that they had known each other all their lives with Filippov. The hockey players met when they played together for the second national team during the Soviet era.
The death of Filippov, who was 75 years old, was announced earlier on February 13 by the press service of the Dynamo Moscow hockey club. The cause of death of the former blue and white defender and legendary coach has not been disclosed. The team expressed their condolences to his family and friends. The date and place of the funeral will be announced later.
