The Central Bank of Russia is currently not participating in negotiations regarding the return of payment in dollars for exports to the United States. This was announced on February 13 by the chairman of the regulator, Elvira Nabiullina.

"As for the possible development of relations with the United States, information, we, as the central bank, are not involved in this, at least not yet," Nabiullina said.

She noted that the decision on possible retaliatory measures in case of confiscation of Russian gold and foreign exchange reserves will be made at the level of the country's leadership.

At the same time, the Central Bank does not disclose the volume of assets of European structures that Russia could control or consider for confiscation as a retaliatory measure.

"We don't disclose how much we control. I have already said this many times," Nabiullina stressed.

On the same day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that Russia had not abandoned the use of the dollar in settlements with the United States, and Washington itself had restricted this right for some countries. According to him, if Washington abandons this practice, the dollar will have to compete with other currencies, including national ones.
