The damage to the Louvre from a fraudulent scheme involving the sale of fake tickets and rebooking of excursions was estimated at more than € 10 million. This was reported on February 12 by the newspaper Le Parisien.

It turned out that the criminal network had been operating for about 10 years, serving up to 20 tourist groups daily. At the moment, nine people are in custody, including the alleged organizer, the guides and two staff members of the museum.

To prove the guilt of the participants in the scheme, law enforcement officers used covert surveillance and wiretapping. This made it possible to confirm the facts of ticket re-entry, the deliberate splitting of groups to circumvent full payment, and the involvement of museum staff in collusion.

In July 2025, the case moved to the judicial investigation stage. The defendants are charged with organized fraud, corruption in the public sector, the use of forged documents and money laundering.

Le Parisien reported on January 12 that investigators investigating the Louvre robbery in October 2025 had discovered the garage where the intruders had brought the jewelry immediately after the crime. According to the newspaper, two criminals on scooters entered the underground garage of a private house in this commune on October 19 last year. Surveillance cameras recorded how they examined the loot, passing it to each other before hiding it in one of the boxes.
