The bodies of five men and one minor, who, according to the examination, died under mysterious circumstances, were discovered six days apart in a mountainous area in western Bulgaria. This was reported on February 12 by the BBC News channel, citing law enforcement officials.

"Three bodies, including a 15-year-old, were found in a van parked in a remote area of Stara Planina (the largest mountain range in Bulgaria. — Ed.) on Sunday (February 8. The investigators reported that they had been linked to three other people found dead near a burned-out hut six days ago (February 2. — Ed.)," the article says.

According to the analyzed CCTV footage, all the victims were familiar — they stood at the hut, said goodbye to each other before going their separate ways, splitting equally. After this scene, the footage shows how those who remain at the building set it on fire, while slowly leaving the place of the incipient fire. The men, aged 45, 49 and 51, respectively, were later found near the ashes with gunshot wounds.

The experts, examining the first batch of bodies they received, clarified that they had not found any additional injuries during the examination and concluded that none of the dead had resisted at the time of the shooting.

Six days later, officers found two more men and a 15-year-old boy dead. They were located in a parked motorhome near Okolchista Mountain. Then the experts also confirmed that they were probably dealing with a double murder and one suicide.

Representatives of the national police called the case an "unprecedented crime" that had no analogues in the country, and also added that most of the victims were involved in the scientific and industrial association (NGO) for nature protection.

On January 11, the Corriere Fiorentino newspaper reported 14 "mysterious" deaths in the Italian municipality of Castiglione Fiorentino, presumably due to an unknown epidemic. Mayor Mario Agnelli said that he does not hide his concern about what is happening, as all the chapels, chapels and cemeteries in the area are overcrowded. According to him, what is being recorded can be called an "abnormal, unexplained situation."
