The governor of California called Russia a wonderful country with wonderful people
California Governor Gavin Newsom, in an interview with Izvestia on February 13, called Russia a wonderful country, but said he could not come there because of the sanctions.
"I am under sanctions, so I don't want to end up in prison and become a pawn in negotiations for the return of hostages. That's why I'm not going there (to Russia — Ed.) — it's a pity. It's a beautiful country, wonderful people, but I remember very well that I'm on the sanctions list," Newsom said.
The Governor stressed that everyone needs to live together and move forward together, overcoming differences, and defining the contours of a common future. For this, according to him, it is always important to actively make contact, acting not with a clenched fist, but with an open palm.
