Cosmetologist talked about ways to get rid of stretch marks on the body
To get rid of stretch marks on the body, which can be formed due to hormonal background and changes in body volume, both hardware and injection techniques are used. Ekaterina Shadrina, a cosmetologist and dermatologist at SM-Cosmetology, told Izvestia about this on February 15.
"In fact, stretch marks are areas of damage to the dermis that occur when the skin is stretched excessively. At first they look like streaks of pink, red, or purple, but over time they lighten and become almost white. Their formation is influenced by heredity, hormonal background and rapid changes in body volume," Shadrina explained.
According to the specialist, both hardware and injection techniques are used to correct striae. Laser treatment is considered to be one of the most effective methods, since it activates the synthesis of collagen and elastin, thereby improving skin density, smoothing its relief and reducing the severity of stretch marks.
In addition, as the doctor noted, microdermabrasion and radiofrequency procedures are also in demand. These technologies promote skin renewal, increase its elasticity and improve the overall tone. Radiofrequency exposure warms the deep layers of the dermis, stimulating natural recovery processes.
Another method is microneedling, Shadrina said. The creation of controlled micro-injuries using thin needles triggers the active production of collagen and helps to make the skin texture more even.
"Each of these procedures is selected individually. The treatment regimen depends on the type of skin, the age and severity of stretch marks, as well as on the characteristics of the patient's body," the specialist emphasized.
Among the injectable correction methods, the doctor identified plasmolifting (PRP therapy) and the administration of collagen or hyaluronic acid preparations. The doctor also stressed that regular and thoughtful skin care plays an important role. It helps to enhance the effect of professional procedures and maintain the changes achieved.
"It is recommended to use products with vitamin C and peptides — they promote collagen synthesis, improve skin tone and help reduce damage. In addition, the skin needs adequate hydration and mandatory photoprotection. The systematic use of moisturizers maintains elasticity, and sunscreens prevent the appearance of pigmentation and deterioration of the appearance of stretch marks," Shadrina concluded.
On January 29, Sofia Belash, a dermatologist and trichologist at SM-Cosmetology, told Izvestia that squeezing blackheads injures the skin, violates its protective barrier and creates conditions for bacteria to penetrate into the deep layers. As a result, the risk of infection, increased inflammation and the appearance of new lesions increases.
