Scammers have developed a new scheme to lure confirmation codes.
Fraudsters have become more likely to use phone calls instead of SMS to receive one-time confirmation codes from victims. This was announced on February 3 by the specialists of the Smart Business Alert (SBA) service of the company "ESA PRO".
"Scammers have started actively using calls instead of SMS to lure victims out of one-time codes. The classic SMS scheme is gradually losing its effectiveness. Companies that care about reputation are increasingly adding explicit warnings to messages: do not share the code with anyone," company representatives told RIA Novosti.
In the new schemes, scammers use the "get a code with a call" function, which is available when logging in or restoring access to accounts.
