Within the framework of the CSTO presidency, Russia will pay attention to building up the combat potential of the organization's forces and equipping them with modern weapons, taking into account the experience of armed conflicts. This was stated on February 13 by Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Pankin at the Fifth Meeting of the Chairmen of the committees of the parliaments of the CSTO member states.

"We attach great importance to the development of the organization's power component. It is planned to focus on building up the combat potential of the collective forces of the CSTO, equipping them with modern weapons," RIA Novosti quoted Pankin as saying.

According to the diplomat, Russia will also promote the integration of military medicine achievements in order to ensure the Collective Defense Forces and improve military-civilian interactions. He noted that Russia has always provided free assistance to the OBCD in ensuring sanitary and epidemiological standards, and stands for further cooperation in this matter.

On November 27, 2025, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia was ready to share weapons and equipment with its CSTO partners. He clarified that the Russian Federation would provide preferential conditions for the purchase of weapons for the organization's countries, adding that the CSTO members would, as before, conduct appropriate joint exercises in all areas.
