Szijjarto accused Kiev of stopping oil supplies via the Druzhba pipeline
Ukraine has blocked oil supplies from Russia via the Druzhba pipeline to Hungary in order to complicate the situation of the Hungarian government ahead of parliamentary elections. This was announced on February 13 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto.
The Hungarian minister said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had decided not to resume oil supplies to Hungary. At the same time, the Druzhba pipeline, according to Szijjarto, is technically fully operational and ready to resume supplies.
"President Zelensky just thinks that he can create a difficult situation for the current government in the upcoming parliamentary elections, making it difficult to supply energy to the country," the Hungarian Foreign Minister said. index.hu .
He called Kiev's actions an "extremely gross interference" in Hungary's internal affairs and clarified that 58 days remained before the parliamentary elections. Szijjarto also assured that the government guarantees the security of the country's energy supply and will take all necessary steps for this.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced on January 28 that the Ukrainian authorities were threatening him and members of the Hungarian government. He attributed the pressure from Kiev to the fact that the current government in Budapest opposes the country's accession to the European Union (EU) and does not intend to provide financial assistance to it, so Ukraine is interested in a change of power in Hungary.
