The head of the department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Magnitogorsk took bribes for access to databases

A criminal case has been opened against the head of the interdistrict department for countering extremism of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Magnitogorsk. This was announced on February 13 by a source of Izvestia.

"It has been established that the official, acting out of self—interest, systematically provided illegal access to the databases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for a monetary reward in order to collect and distribute personal information of citizens to interested parties," the report says.

As specified, the information obtained could be used in the interests of the Ukrainian special services, including to involve citizens in sabotage and terrorist activities.

Searches are currently underway at the suspect's place of residence and work, and the investigation is ongoing. A criminal case was opened against the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs under Part 3 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Russia ("Abuse of official authority out of self-interest").

On February 12, the Investigative Committee of Russia charged Andrei Faleychik, the former deputy governor of the Chelyabinsk Region, with accepting a bribe. According to the investigation, in the period 2021-2023, as the head of Kopeisk, he received money from the director of a commercial organization for concluding a long-term lease agreement for the property complex of the Yunost children's health camp.
