Scientists have reported a decrease in solar flare activity
Solar flare activity is rapidly declining and may drop to zero levels by the end of the week. This was announced on February 13 by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS).
"Flash activity — as expected, with the departure of area 4366 over the horizon, it is rapidly decreasing. There are only two active areas worth mentioning on the Sun, which now form two huge eyes, measuring 1.5 million km," the Telegram channel said.
It is noted that the last time zero solar activity was recorded was in April 2024. According to the researchers' forecasts, the level of flare activity will remain low in the coming days.
On February 12, the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the IKI RAS reported that a coronal hole could begin to affect the Earth in three to four days. Coronal holes are regions with reduced plasma density and temperature in the solar corona.
