Midad Energy, which is supported by Saudi Arabia, has entered into a preliminary agreement with the Russian company Lukoil on the purchase of international assets under sanctions. This was reported on February 12 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources.

"Midad is working to ensure compliance with the necessary regulatory requirements. The offer is seen as a risky deal backed by strong political ties with Saudi Arabia," the agency's source said.

It is clarified that Midad Energy also agreed to place funds on the escrow account until all permits are received.

On January 29, the Russian oil company Lukoil signed an agreement with the American investment company Carlyle on the sale of a subsidiary of Lukoil International GmbH, which owns foreign assets. It is noted that the transaction does not include assets in the Republic of Kazakhstan, which will remain owned by the Lukoil Group and will continue to operate under the relevant license.
