On February 12, Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced in the Max messenger the progress of the reconstruction of school No. 1574 in Staropimenovsky Lane. According to him, the renovation preserves the architectural uniqueness of the building, built more than 120 years ago.

The official noted that this is a landmark place in the capital, where outstanding teachers taught: astronomy was taught by Pavel Sternberg, linguistics by Philip Fortunatov, Leonid Sabaneev talked about nature, and classes were partly held in foreign languages, writes Moscow 24.

Sobyanin stressed that the school is known for its graduates, including architect Roman Klein, philosophers Sergei and Evgeny Trubetskoy, physicist Alexander Eichenwald, founder of the Theater Museum Alexei Bakhrushin, as well as poet Valery Bryusov. He added that in 1986, scenes of the film "Tomorrow was the War" were filmed in the building, and during the Great Patriotic War, the school was bombed, and the rubble was dismantled by teachers and students themselves, the Moscow City News agency reports.

The mayor noted that after the reconstruction, the building will be transformed inside and out: engineering communications will be replaced, modern offices with glass partitions and new equipment will be equipped. The plans also include multi—level railings, ceilings with noise-absorbing panels, modern playgrounds and sports grounds, and a quiet recreation area in the courtyard, NSN notes. He clarified that the structural elements have already been reinforced, the floors, roof and windows have been replaced, and finishing works and installation of new engineering systems are underway.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
