Rodriguez: Machado will have to answer to Venezuela for calls for intervention
Venezuelan opposition politician Maria Corina Machado, who called for military intervention in the country, will have to answer for such agitation. This was announced on February 12 by the authorized President of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguez.
The politician warned that the condition for Machado's return to the country is her willingness to bear responsibility to the entire state.
"Why did she call for military intervention, why did she call for sanctions against Venezuela, and why did she welcome the actions that took place in early January," Rodriguez explained to NBC.
As The Washington Post reported on January 29, Machado's return to the country poses a risk to the White House's efforts to stabilize the situation in Venezuela and create conditions for attracting investments from American oil companies.
On January 21, Reuters learned about Rodriguez's plans to visit the United States. She herself promised, if she happens to go to Washington, to do it as befits a Venezuelan woman — with her head held high and the tricolor of her state unfurled.
In mid-January, the head of the opposition in the Bolivarian Republic, Maria Corina Machado, announced that she had given the Nobel Peace Prize to American President Donald Trump. She herself received this award "for her efforts to promote democracy in Venezuela" in 2025. Three days after Machado's statement, it was reported that the Nobel Peace Prize, which had already been awarded, could not be transferred to Trump according to the rules of the Nobel Committee.
