YouTube has blocked the channel of journalist Maria Chadina
YouTube video hosting has blocked the channel of Russian journalist and volunteer Maria Chadina after an interview with actress Nika Zdorik. The journalist reported this on February 12 in her Telegram channel.
"YouTube deleted my channel and with it the premiere release of Louder than Words with Nika Zdorik. A whole movie about a heroine that you all know and love very well. <...> There was no dirt in this interview. Only the personal story of a Russian girl, Niki. Her formation as an actress, as a person," wrote Chadina.
According to the explanation of YouTube, which was published by the journalist, the reason for the blocking is an alleged violation of the rules of the service. Chadina noted that Western corporations regularly "stifle real content about our country," while simultaneously accusing Russia of "censorship."
All new videos of the journalist will now be released on domestic video hosting sites — VK Video and Rutube.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on September 28 last year that Western countries were creating an artificial barrier to their citizens' access to Russian media, as well as dangerously fragmenting the global media space.
The diplomat noted that in addition to direct censorship, the countries of the collective West use methods of segregation and harassment of opponents, resort to freezing bank accounts, politically motivated criminal prosecutions, threats of violence and physical violence. Many journalists, she said, paid with their lives for the right to express their opinions.
