A large fluorite deposit has been discovered in Transbaikalia
Specialists of JSC Rosgeo have discovered a deposit of the mineral fluorite (fluorspar) with reserves of more than 5 million tons in the Krasnokamensk district of the Trans-Baikal Territory. This was announced on February 12 by Rosgeologiya Holding in the Telegram channel.
According to the results of the state expertise, fluorspar reserves were placed on the balance sheet: 1.05 million tons in the C1 category and 4.042 million tons in the C2 category. The establishment of its reserves on the balance sheet increased the all-Russian reserves of fluorspar by 17.5% at once.
"This expands the mineral resource base of the Far East and strengthens Russia's raw material independence. At the same time, it is very important that the deposit is located next to the infrastructure, and it can be quickly put into development, and serious reserves make it possible to create large—scale production of fluorite concentrates," said Artur Uzyunkoyan, Rosgeo's chief geologist.
Fluorspar is used for the production of cast iron, steel, ceramics, glass, cement, aluminum and hydrofluoric acid, necessary for the production of fluorocarbons and other chemical products.
"In our work, we relied on the results of previous research, assessed the volume, quality and content of materials. As a result, an object has been prepared that is ready for licensing and exploration work. The Gozogor field is unique in its geographical location: there are roads and railways in the immediate vicinity, a thermal power plant nearby, and the mining town of Krasnokamensk is 5 km away," said Anton Ivanov, Project Manager at Urangeo.
It is noted that the facility has been recognized by the Ministry of Natural Resources of the Russian Federation as one of the main discoveries of 2025 and is already preparing for licensing for industrial development.
In November 2025, two unique diamonds weighing 55.96 and 135.75 carats were mined at the V. Grib deposit in the Arkhangelsk region. The crystals found became the third and fourth samples of particularly large size extracted last year. All of them are characterized by impeccable purity, high transparency and expressive natural shape.
