The mother of the schoolgirls who disappeared in St. Petersburg a few days ago led them to the totalitarian sect "Russian Orthodox Church - Tsarist Empire" more than a year ago. Their grandmother told Izvestia about this on February 12.

According to the woman, during their communication with the sectarians, the sisters managed to get into pseudo-religious ideas and resisted their father, who returned them home and sent them to a psychologist.

"When the son realized that the girls were involved, he tricked them from her (mother. He took them away and took them to St. Petersburg, and since then he has lived with them. <...> The girls were infected with these sectarian ideas, the main theme is that you can't use documents, it's a "great evil," the woman explained.

She clarified that the girls were taken to a clinic and sent to psychologists, but the 18-year-old granddaughter did not want to make contact and engage with specialists. At the same time, her 11-year-old sister regularly visited a psychologist and was able to return to normal life.

"The only thing is that she went to school without an electronic card, her eldest granddaughter did not allow her, and she did not want to use it herself. As it is, I've already made friends in class, and I've figured out what computer games are. We were even glad that the children were playing on the computer," the woman added.

She noted that the former daughter-in-law was unemployed. At first, she tried to lure her ex-husband into the sect: in letters addressed to him, she described her life, which was more like the conditions of detention in a prison camp.

Earlier that day, the father of the missing girls noted that his children may be with members of the totalitarian sect "Russian Orthodox Church — Tsarist Empire", where their mother sent them. He added that he was trying to deprive his ex-wife of parental rights through the court.

On the day of the disappearance, on February 9, the girls left the house without documents, their whereabouts are still unknown. Law enforcement officers and volunteers are involved in the search for 18-year-old and 11-year-old schoolgirls.
