British Defense Minister John Healey confirmed London's allocation of more than 500 million pounds ($ 682 million) for the purchase of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), specifying the details of the distribution of these funds. This was reported on February 2 by Sky News TV channel with reference to the official's statement.

"Today I confirm that the UK is allocating an additional 500 million pounds as an urgent measure to support Ukraine's air defense. This is Britain!" the minister told the press during a meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine's Defense in Brussels.

According to his statement, £150 million ($204 million) of the total amount will be the first British tranche under the PURL program (English — Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List, a list of priority requirements of Ukraine). London expects that this will ensure "the rapid delivery of missiles for Ukraine's air defense systems."

For £390 million ($531 million), London will purchase British light multipurpose missiles manufactured in Belfast. This Northern Irish city is home to an enterprise of the Thales military industrial concern, which, among other things, produces Lightweight Multirole Missile (LMM) multipurpose missiles designed to strengthen air defense and combat unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Healy announced on January 9 that his government had allocated 200 million pounds ($268 million) in 2026 to finance preparations for the possible deployment of international forces in Ukraine. The money, as the minister explained, will be used to modernize vehicles, communication systems, new means of protection against drones and additional equipment to protect troops. The Daily Mail (DM) newspaper learned two days later that London wants to transfer Nightfall missiles to Kiev, which are still under development. The range of these aircraft can reach 300 miles (approximately 482 km).

On February 4, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova announced that NATO was planning an undisguised military intervention in Ukraine. She added that Russia categorically does not accept this and added that if the West implements its plans, the units that have appeared in Ukraine will become legitimate targets for the Russian army.

On February 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow was not satisfied with the deployment of Western military installations on the territory of Ukraine. He also rejected the model of crisis resolution proposed by Kiev, which involves the deployment of "multinational forces" to ensure Ukraine's security.
