The quarantine at the Prokopiev boarding school was extended until February 26 due to the detection of new cases of diseases. This was announced on February 12 by the Department of Rospotrebnadzor in the Kemerovo region.

"Extended until February 26, 2026 due to the identification of new cases of diseases," the TASS service reports.

It is noted that the quarantine at the boarding school was introduced on January 24 and was supposed to last until February 12. At the same time, Rospotrebnadzor reported that it may be extended if new cases of diseases are detected.

On January 29, the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Kemerovo Region reported that nine guests of the Prokopyevsky boarding school for citizens with mental disorders, where influenza A had previously broken out, died in January of this year.

Decompensation of heart failure, circulatory system diseases, thromboembolism and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were listed among the causes of death. The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation noted that the deaths of three boarding school guests are related to the flu, and the causes of death of six more people are being investigated.

Later it became known that more than 20 employees of the boarding school in Prokopyevsk were suspended from work. The regional Prosecutor's Office noted that the inspection revealed facts of non-compliance with sanitary and epidemiological standards. Already on January 30, the agency organized an inspection of all 13 boarding schools for citizens with mental disorders in the region.
