- The Indian Foreign Ministry announced the continuation of cooperation between Moscow and New Delhi
India and Russia continue to cooperate on a wide range of issues, and New Delhi intends to continue developing bilateral relations. This was stated at a briefing on February 12 by the official representative of the Indian Foreign Ministry, Randhir Jaiswal.
"As for trade relations with India and Russia, as well as other aspects of our relationship, we continue to interact and cooperate on a wide range of issues," TASS quoted him as saying.
Jaiswal also noted that India and Russia continue to develop trade, interpersonal cultural ties, defense and other aspects of bilateral relations.
Since February 7, the United States has lifted previously imposed duties of 25% on imports of goods from India, as the country allegedly refused to purchase Russian oil. Later, the Hindu Business Line newspaper reported that India's rapid abandonment of Russian oil was highly unlikely. According to the newspaper, there are currently no official instructions from the Indian government to stop buying oil from Russia.
On February 4, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov pointed out that Russia understands that India has other suppliers of petroleum products. He clarified that India has always bought oil from other countries, so the Kremlin does not see any innovation in this situation.
