For several generations of lawyers, Honored Lawyer of Russia Genrikh Padva was not just a symbol of the legal profession, but was a defender of great courage. This was stated by his colleague, lawyer Alexander Hofstein, at the lawyer's farewell ceremony on February 12, the Izvestia correspondent reports.
"He was the creator of an entire school of criminal defense with principles he had suffered through, views on the structure of the process and the role of a lawyer in legal proceedings," Hofstein emphasized.
The lawyer added that Padva was a brilliant teacher, he carried out this mission with honor and great love.
"He was not only incredibly skilled in this field, he was infinitely generous. <...> He generously gave, if not scattered, stunning legal ideas so that colleagues could fully and honorably perform their function," he noted.
Padva's death became known on February 10. His clients included businessman Alisher Usmanov, former Russian Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov, as well as actor Vladislav Galkin and many other famous personalities. The lawyer's wife, in turn, said that the cause of Padva's death was a stroke. Later it became known that the farewell to Padva would take place on February 12 at 12:00 Moscow time in the funeral hall at Marshal Timoshenko St., 25.
The president of the FPA, Svetlana Volodina, said that the scale of Padva's personality was so great that after his departure, colleagues massively sent condolences to the entire Russian legal profession.
