The players of the National Hockey League (NHL) are planning to move from the Olympic Village. This is reported by the Canadian newspaper Globe and Mail.

"However, the players are not eager to talk much about housing conditions. After a few nights in the Olympic village to experience the atmosphere of the Olympic Games, some players will quietly move to hotels to prepare for the tournament," the newspaper writes.

According to the newspaper, hockey players are used to comfortable conditions, and the question of whether they are ready to host the entire tournament in the Olympic Village remains open. The publication does not exclude the fear of an outbreak of the virus, which has already infected hockey players from the women's national teams of Finland and Switzerland.

At the same time, Luca Casasa, Communications Director of the Olympic Organizing Committee, said that the athletes were satisfied with the living conditions in the Olympic Village.

"The head of the Olympic Village confirmed to me that the village is completely filled. The food is excellent, everyone is happy. As far as I know, the NHL players are happy with everything, just like the rest of the athletes," TASS quoted Kassau as saying.

Prior to that, on February 9, the Organizing Committee of the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Italy (OI-2026) promised to find out what the fragility of the medals was related to, after several athletes complained about their breakdown. American alpine skier Breezy Johnson, Swedish skier Ebba Anderson and German biathlete Justus Strelov were injured. It was reported that the awards had problems with fastening: medals were torn off the ribbons, and when they fell off, individual elements broke off.
