Kulyukhin's lawyer demanded a public apology from Netanyahu and the SHABAK.
On February 12, the lawyer of Russian journalist Nikita Kulyukhin, Roni Aloni Sadovnik, sent a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the head of the Israeli security service SHABAK, David Zini, demanding a public apology for removing Kulyukhin from the Israeli Prime Minister's plane before flying to the United States. The text of the letter is available to Izvestia.
"Nikita Kulyukhin does not and did not pose any threat to the security of the Prime Minister or his entourage," the letter says.
As the lawyer pointed out, obstructing a journalist who was duly approved as part of the delegation, without a specific reason, is a serious violation of constitutional law and equal access to information.
"My client works for leading international media outlets. His disembarkation from the plane prevented him from doing his job and damaged his professional status in Israel and around the world," the letter says.
According to the lawyer, if an apology is not received within three days, Kulyukhin's side will appeal to the courts both in Israel and abroad.
On February 11, Kulyukhin, in an interview with Izvestia, said that he had been removed from the plane of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu before flying to the United States. At the moment when the journalist was filming himself against the background of the plane, which was preparing for departure, an employee of the SHABAK approached him. The employee asked to stop filming and go with him.
In March, the Israeli Foreign Ministry banned Kulukhin from attending the weekly press conferences of Foreign Minister Gideon Saar. This happened after a journalist asked on March 4 why the Israeli side did not condemn the glorification in Ukraine of nationalist supporters who acted during the Holocaust.
