WhatsApp messenger (owned by Meta, which is recognized as an extremist organization in the Russian Federation) continues to make efforts to keep users in Russia in touch. This was announced on February 12 by the press service of the service.

"We continue to do everything possible to keep users in touch," WhatsApp said in a statement on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Earlier in the day, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the restoration of the WhatsApp messenger in Russia depends on the implementation of legislation by Meta. The press secretary of the Russian president stressed that as long as Meta takes an uncompromising position and does not comply with Russian legislation, the service will not work.

The day before, the newspaper Kommersant found out that the WhatsApp domain was excluded from the records of the National Domain Name System (NSDI). It was noted that now devices no longer receive IP addresses for the messenger, and access to WhatsApp is only possible using a VPN.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
