Thailand to consider reducing visa-free travel from 60 to 30 days
Thailand is discussing reducing the visa-free stay in the country from 60 to 30 days for tourists from 93 countries, including Russia. This was announced on February 12 by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism Natthria Thawiwong.
"A new committee created by the Prime Minister and headed by the Permanent Secretary of Foreign Affairs plans to review visa measures, including a 60‑day visa‑free stay for visitors from 93 countries," the Bangkok Post newspaper quoted Thawiwong as saying.
According to her, this change should not affect tourism, as tourists in Thailand do not stay for more than 21 days on average. For those wishing to stay in the country for more than 30 days, it is possible to extend their stay in the usual manner.
The Association of Tour Operators (ATOR) reported on February 2 that the number of tourists visiting Thailand increased by 6.7% in January 2026 to 272,959. The press service clarified that China is in first place in the top 5 key entry markets of Thailand in January, Malaysia is in second place, India is in fourth, and South Korea closes the top five.
