The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia has completed an investigation into the case of actor Artur Smolyaninov (recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, listed as a terrorist and extremist by Rosfinmonitoring), who reported false information about the Russian Armed Forces (RF Armed Forces). This was reported on February 12 in the press service of the Investigative Committee.
"A criminal legal assessment of the statements of actor A. Smolyaninov is given. In an interview with an online publication from abroad, he provided deliberately false information about the actions of Russian military personnel. The investigation of the criminal case has been completed," the agency said in a statement on the MAX messenger.

In October last year, the Cheremushkinsky District Court of Moscow found Smolyaninov guilty of violating the procedure for the activities of a foreign agent. It is also noted that the court imposed an administrative fine of 40 thousand rubles on the actor.
In January 2024, Smolyaninov spoke with Russian pranksters Vladimir Kuznetsov (Vovan) and Alexey Stolyarov (Lexus), who introduced themselves as the head of the office of the President of Ukraine, Andrei Ermak. In the conversation, he expressed a desire to obtain Ukrainian citizenship "turnkey" for the whole family. He noted that he agreed to speak to the civilian and military residents of Ukraine and promised to do everything for them that "depends on him."
In 2023, the Russian Ministry of Justice included Smolyaninov in the register of foreign agents. And in May of the same year, the actor was included by Rosfinmonitoring in the list of terrorists and extremists.
