Leader of the German BSW Party (Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice) Sarah Wagenknecht criticized Berlin's financial support for Ukraine. On February 11, it was reported by the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung.

"The German government is turning German taxpayers into the number one sponsor of the <conflict>," Wagenknecht said.

According to her, instead of actively working on a peaceful settlement and promoting compromise solutions, including with the participation of the Ukrainian leadership, the German authorities continue to allocate new aid packages to Kiev. The politician believes that such measures do not contribute to achieving peace, but, on the contrary, lead to a prolongation of the conflict.

Wagenknecht also drew attention to Germany's domestic budget policy. She stressed that against the background of the discussion of reducing social and other expenses within the country, the continuation of large-scale financing of Ukraine looks contradictory.

According to the BSW leader, Berlin's current course towards Kiev requires a review, taking into account the interests of German citizens and the prospects for a peaceful settlement.

On January 31, Germany was outraged by the sending of generators needed by Berlin to Kiev. It was clarified that the residents of Berlin themselves were counting on this help during the power outage.
