The State Duma offered free legal advice to pensioners against fraudsters
The Liberal Democratic Party offered to provide pensioners with free legal assistance to combat fraudsters. A letter with such an initiative addressed to the head of the Ministry of Justice Konstantin Chaichenko was sent by the party's leader Leonid Slutsky, which is available to Izvestia.
"Older people are more likely than others to become victims of phone scams. With age, reactions become blunted, it is more difficult to understand modern technologies, especially in ways of their illegal use. At LDPR, we propose to give pensioners the right to free legal assistance in all matters related to fraud. This will not only protect the money and property of the elderly, but also increase their awareness of such issues, teach them to recognize when a criminal is "breeding" them on the other end of the line," Slutsky told Izvestia.
He recalled that as a result of fraudulent actions from October 2024 to October 2025, 1.5 billion rubles were stolen from the elderly, while 93% of attacks began with phone calls.
Experts from the Moshelovka platform of the Popular Front warned on February 8 that fraudsters are using schemes with fake monthly payment indexing services to steal data and money from Russians. It was reported that the target audience of such attacks are pensioners and recipients of social benefits.
