- The Federation Council proposed to introduce a free SMS notification on the accrual of pensions
On February 12, Senator Ayrat Gibatdinov, a member of the Federation Council Committee on Science, Education and Culture, asked Elvira Nabiullina, head of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, to give the regulator's official position on the possibility of requiring banks to provide free SMS notification of citizens about the accrual of pensions.
"We ask you, in accordance with the federal law On the Status of a Senator of the Russian Federation and the status of a deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, to inform us about the position of the Central Bank of Russia regarding the possibility of establishing a regulatory requirement for banks to provide free SMS notification of citizens about the accrual of pensions," TASS quoted Gibatdinov as saying.
It is clarified that the need for this initiative is due to the fact that information about the receipt of pensions for the elderly is important, however, the number of banks providing the option for free has decreased significantly in the last few years, and the cost of the service has increased by 10-25%.
Alexey Govyrin, a State Duma deputy from the United Russia party, announced on February 11 that from January 1, 2026, the amount of a fixed payment to an insurance pension in Russia has been increased by 7.6%. Now it is 9584.69 rubles without regional coefficients.
