The investigation into the death of a man during the landing of the Mi-8 in Kolyma has been completed.

The investigation into the death of a man during the landing of a Mi-8 helicopter operated by Dalnerechensk Avia in March 2024 in the Magadan region has been completed. This was announced on February 12 by the press service of the Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office.

According to the agency, the deputy Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor has approved an indictment against a 44-year-old resident of Magadan. He was charged under Part 2 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of the rules of traffic safety and operation of air transport, which negligently caused serious harm to health and death of a person").

"The accused did not properly organize the work of the crew members on the ground, incorrectly assessed the meteorological and aeronautical situation when deciding to take off," the press service of the Eastern Interregional Investigative Department for Transport of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation quoted TASS as saying.

A Mi-8 helicopter operated by Dalnerechensk Avia, carrying shift workers, crashed in the Magadan Region on March 14, 2024. The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region clarified that the hard landing occurred in the area of Quartz Hill, 75 km north of the village of Evensk in the North-Evensky Municipal District, when the helicopter was en route from Omolon Gold Mining Company to the village of Omsukchan. As another passenger told Izvestia earlier, the helicopter fell from a height of about 60-70 m.

The Far Eastern Transport Prosecutor's Office called the engine malfunction the preliminary cause of the crash. According to the Federal Air Transport Agency, according to preliminary data, there were 20 people on board, one of them was killed, two are in serious condition. A rescue operation took place at the crash site, after which the victims were taken to Magadan.
